Evangelism Team Meeting
March 2, 2004
Attending the meeting were Dean Conklin, Jerry McLeland,
Laura Kuhl, Jenita Rhodes, Jim Wolff, Lynda Fickling, and Carl Cleveland.
The attendees agreed on the following: Laura Kuhl will
serve as Chair, Jim Wolff will be Co-chair, and Ken Fong will serve as interim
Recorder.
Jim Wolff and Ken Fong shared information about the United
Methodist Church’s “Igniting Ministry” program. This potential resource for us
is intended to increase awareness of, positive feeling for, and renewed
commitment to the United Methodist Church.
Laura Kuhl will be getting additional information from the
conference office.
Ken handed out a proposal for target audiences, which the
group discussed. He also handed out the results of a survey from the Central
Christian Church, as input to the Identity discussion.
The majority of the meeting consisted of brainstorming on
the St. Luke’s Identity; the results are included as Attachment I.
The next two meetings will be held on Tuesday, March 9, and
Tuesday, March 23, from 7 to 8:30 PM.
The action items for the March 9 meeting are:
- Look at the items in Attachment I and draft your own
brief identity message for St. Luke’s, to be used for attracting
outsiders to visit us.
- Laura will gather additional evangelism information from
the conference office.
- Lynda will gather information from the congregation on
“What aspects of our Invitational/Relational/Missional values are important to
you?”
The objective of this meeting will be to close on the
identity statement.
