March 15, 2005 Meeting Minutes

In attendance were Dean Conklin, Lynda Fickling, Ken Fong, Mike Hanson, Laura Kuhl, Nancy Obertier, and Jim Wolff.

We reviewed the status of our projects:

Dean Conklin introduced Mike Hanson as a new member of the group.

Ken Fong reported that the Home Improvements group will kick off our “hospitality days” on April 24. A sign has been put on the missions closet. The Invitation Card, with a list of special events for the rest of the year, will be handed out at Easter.

Jim Wolff has had trouble scheduling time with Janet Forbes to talk about 1) getting St. Luke’s members to form stronger emotional connections and 2) an annual process to coordinate how groups help with hospitality.

Lynda Fickling shared the statistics on membership, constituents, and average attendance by year. Send any questions about statistics to Jim Wolff and he and Lynda will try to answer them. Lynda will work with Bonnie Funk on a letter to be sent to the groups who rent the church, to discuss giving them some exposure to our members and to distribute Invitation Cards to them.

Laura Kuhl has also been unable to meet with Janet about increased visibility at Little School. She reported for Jerry McLeland that four new parking signs should be arriving next week. She also discussed a proposal to locate a new name tag storage area where the current coat racks are.

Dean Conklin is still working with UMM on “one good idea” from each member to enhance the visibility of the group. There appears to be resistance to change the group’s name (similar to the change from UMW to Women of St. Luke’s).

At our next meeting, we will re-visit the SWOT list from last year.

There was agreement that we need to increase our marketing efforts, now that St. Andrew has relocated to Highlands Ranch.

We talked about staffing the Guest Services Center. Lynda will collect names of people who are willing to staff it. We’ll start by getting coverage for major events, such as Easter.

Our next meeting will be Tuesday, May 3, at 7 PM.

Ken Fong: Work with Lynda to prepare special name tags for the Home Improvements group on their “Hospitality Day.”
