April 20, 2004 Meeting Minutes

In attendance were Emily Bauer, Dean Conklin, Dee Duncan, Lynda Fickling, Ken Fong, Laura Kuhl (leading the meeting), David Necker, Jim Wolff (scribe).

The group welcomed Emily Bauer, who is one of our two youth members. David Ashby has also been invited and said he “might be interested.”

Jim and Laura reviewed the Evangelism Team discussion at the recent Executive Board meeting. The feedback was generally very positive. Jim will be attending next week’s Ministry Council meeting to seek approval to begin using our Invitation Statement for evangelism.

We then discussed the Strengths/Weaknesses/Opportunities/Threats facing us. We added to the list of SWOTs, prioritized them according to near-term impact on evangelism, and then asked for volunteers for the highest priority items (HI A). The attachment lists the current SWOTS, their priority, and the members of the subcommittees which will be working on them.

Everyone is asked to develop SMART goals for their respective SWOTs, and email them to the group by 5/4. These goals should include resources needed, such as what SLUMC groups need to help. Our next meeting will be May 11 at 7 PM.

ACTION ITEMS:

Ken Fong: Forward the Invitation Statement to Martha Boon. Ask that the MC review of the ET work occur later in the meeting.

Ken Fong: Update and re-distribute the team roster

Laura Kuhl: Pass on to the Communications Team the needs for the “Community Awareness of new pastor” and “Special Events” opportunities.

All: Inform Emily Bauer of any sub-team meetings, so she can decide whether she can attend.

All: By May 4, email all SMART goals on your SWOT items to the rest of the team
