Evangelism Team
May 3, 2005 Meeting Minutes
Present were Jim Wolff (presiding), David Ashby, Ken Fong (taking notes),
Lynda Fickling, Dean Conklin, and Mike Hanson.
Mike suggesting inviting Doug Harris to join ET (did anyone follow up on
this?)
We reviewed the status of our current projects.
We discussed adding a second youth to join the Evangelism Team. We agreed
that we could find ways to better publicize youth activities.
Ken Fong reported on the following:
• We successfully supported the Home Improvements small group during their
“Hospitality Sunday.”
• We decided that UMM would be the next group that should host a Sunday.
June 19th, Father’s Day, appeared to be a good date. In addition to what Home
Improvements did (making coffee, greeting, helping with ushering, wearing
special name tags, having a table with information about their group, doing a
Ministry Moment), we thought we could make exposure to the group more
effective by: 1) having member(s) of UMM staff the table with information
about the group, and 2) putting information tents about UMM on the tables in
the Fellowship Hall.
• Feedback was provided on the Invitation Cards: if they are made 1/8”
narrower, they can be stuffed in a standard mailing envelope.
Dean Conklin reported on the following:
• He is still working with UMM on getting “1 good idea” about improving
their attendance and participation.
• Sermons will be available in booklet form starting May 8. It was
suggested that the booklets add our phone number, URL, etc. on the first page.
Lynda Fickling shared with the team what she’s doing about “Friendship Pads,”
including passing samples around.
Jim Wolff, who has just taken on the responsibilities of Chairing the
Executive Board, asked to resign his position as one of the leaders of ET. The
team talked Jim into tabling this move until we got more people to join the
team.
Our next meeting will be Tuesday, June 21st, at 7 PM.
Action Items
David Ashby: Will invite a youth to join ET.
Dean Conklin, Jim Wolff, and Ken Fong: Will approach UMM about hosting on
June 19th.
Ken Fong: Will pass along to Lisa Hajek the suggestions for additional
information on the front of the sermon booklets.
