Peak Adventures
PEAK--Purposeful Educational Activities for Kids--Adventures is our 9:30 Sunday school program for elementary aged
children. (Scroll down or click for PEAK Adventures Schedule of Workshops 2007-2008). The children explore a Bible story or concept for 4 to 6 weeks
as they rotate through a different workshop each week. Our workshops
include Art, Storytelling, Computer, Cinema Cooking Games and Science. Workshops
are lead by teaching teams and grade level Guides rotate with the children and
are there to greet the children, take attendance and assist as needed. All
adults are welcomed to join one of our workshops or guide teams and get involved
in the fun of learning and growing in their own faith while getting to know our
outstanding kids. The topics and dates are listed below.
After finishing up a unit on The Beatitudes the PEAK kids will learn more about the Easter Story by seeing it through the eyes of Mary Magdalene.
Mary Magdalene was grieving when she went to anoint the body of Jesus at the tomb
on the morning after the Sabbath was over. She had no idea that she was about to become
the first to hear the good news of Jesus’ resurrection! When she realized what had happened,
she ran to tell the others. When she told them that Jesus was alive—that she had actually
seen him—they did not believe her. But the news would soon bring great joy to all who heard and believed.
As the children hear and experience the story of the empty tomb from Mark 16:1-11,
they will understand Mary’s joy at hearing the words “Do not be alarmed. He [Jesus] has been raised;
he is not here.” (Mark 16:6) They will have opportunities to talk about what it means to be Jesus’
disciple today and to explore how they too can tell the good news to others.
The Easter Rotation will begin on February 17 and continue through Palm Sunday, March 16.
Joy Trek
9:30 Sunday School for children ages three through Kindergarten.
Our Joy Trek Kids will continue learning more about the stories Jesus told by hearing the
Parable of the Sower, the Forgiving Father, the Pharisee and the Tax Collector and the Two Houses.
The Easter Mission project of all our Children’s Sunday School classes through Lent will be the Heifer
Project. Each elementary class will choose an animal to purchase and track their progress toward
that purchase. The preschool classes’ offering will go to purchase a flock of baby chicks. Their
progress will be displayed by the Superintendent’s Table in the David Area.

Did you know that. .

Studies have also shown that we retain information better when we
experience it through more than one process. For example, we retain:
* 10% of what we READ
* 20% of what we HEAR
* 30% of what we SEE
* 50% of what we SEE and HEAR
* 70% of what we SAY
* 90% of what we SAY and DO
* 100% of what we EXPERIENCE!
Our
goal in PEAK Adventures Sunday School is to have our children experience each
lesson in such a way that they not only remember the story, but learn how to
apply its lesson to their life.
Be a part of the PEAK Adventures Team!
We current are looking for adults to present Biblical lessons on Sunday mornings through our SCIENCE WORKSHOP, CINEMA WORKSHOP, COMPUTER WORKSHOP
AND STORYTELLING WORKSHOP. The curriculum provides all you need, but
you’ll find your creative juices will begin to flow as you discover for yourself
how fun it is to learn and experience God’s Love in each of these
workshops. Please contact Jenita Rhodes and find out how you can become
part of this program.
