Job Seekers Group

November 5, 2009

It appears that the need for the JobSeekers ministry has ended.  We experienced great attendance during the first six months of the year when the employment crisis was at its peak in Colorado.  The improvement in employment opportunities over the summer, coupled with general “job hunting fatigue” has resulted in an average of one attendee a week this Fall.

Because we seem to have come to the end of our useful file as a special ministry, JobSeekers will no longer meet.  Our one-year subscription to Crossroads Career network will expire soon and will not be renewed.

The JobSeekers mailing list will remain active for the near future as a tool to assist those who remain in the job hunt.  Please continue to use this tool to ask for assistance and broadcast new employment opportunities.   If you do not wish to continue to receive the broadcast e-mails, please go to the website and unsubscribe: http://stlukeshr.com/p_emaillists.asp.

Thank you for your participation and accept our heartfelt prayers that you will all be well and blessed.

Our Church in Turbulent Times

With economic downturn and rising unemployment, we probably have at least five for every 100 wage-earning members in our church who are out of work, under financial stress and hurting.

In these turbulent times, one-third of employed people believe they will be looking for a job within 12 months. Our church is the place to help with Christ-centered encouragement, contacts and counsel – especially since 48% of job seekers and 24% of employers search for one another through churches, according to the Society of Human Resources Management.

We provide Crossroads Career Christian resources as a great opportunity to help people with job search and career choices, while using this difficult time to grow in relationship with Jesus Christ.
