Ryan Canaday - Lead Minister of Worship and Missional Life

Ryan Canaday serves as one of the co-pastors on the Clergy Team, and has been at St. Luke's since 2012. Ryan graduated with his BA in Biblical Studies from Colorado Christian University in 2005, and earned his M. Div with a concentration in Justice & Peace Studies in 2009 at The Iliff School of Theology. Prior to St. Luke's, he served as one of the pastors at University Park UMC, as well as the Director of the Wesley Foundation at the University of Denver. Ryan has a deep passion for new, creative, and meaningful ways of doing church. He also has a deep desire to help people live better and more meaningful stories as they connect with God and the world in transformative ways. Ryan loves spending time with his wife, Tami, and their daughters, Selah and Shiloh and new son Breck.

Jessica Rooks - Lead Minister of Community Life

Jessica Rooks joins us from St. Paul's and Cameron United Methodist Churches in Denver. She has a Master of Divinity from the Iliff School of Theology and a Bachelor of Arts from Western State College. She is married to her husband James and has two daughters, Morgan and Kaylee.

Sallie Suby-Long - Lead Minister of Spiritual Life

Sallie joined the pastoral team at St. Luke’s in 2009 and serves as Associate Minister with responsibility for the direction of spiritual care, counseling, and formation ministries. Prior to her appointment at St. Luke’s, Sallie was a Senior Associate and Educator with the leadership organizations Trustee Leadership Development and Ki ThoughtBridge. She also co-founded Leadership Innovations Group and served as Vice President of the organization for five years. Sallie worked with clients nationally facilitating leadership development and change management with non-profit agencies, educational institutions, and businesses. She also served in faculty and management position at Willamette University, Washington State University, and Lewis and Clark College and directed educational initiatives for Girls Count – an organization focused on enhancing girls and women’s education and career achievement.

Sallie earned her Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees in Education and Human Development from Iowa State University. She also completed a Master of Arts degree in Pastoral and Spiritual Care from Iliff School of Theology including certification as a Spiritual Director. Recently, Sallie accomplished her long-time dream of earning her Ph.D. in an interdisciplinary Education, Leadership, and Psychology program through Capella University based in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Her passions include singing, transformational learning, and encouraging other’s growth and development. Sallie and her husband Tom love being parents to their three daughters; Rachel, Sarah, and Rebecca. Together, Sallie and her family enjoy international travel, community service, hiking, boating, skiing and being in the mountains.

Sharon Oliver - Director of Children's Ministry

Sharon became a member of St. Luke’s in 1998, and joined the staff as Director of Children’s Ministry in 2009. She has a passion for children's education and has been serving the children of St. Luke's for over 20 years. Her other passion is the creative arts and she has a BFA in graphic design/advertising and was a VP at a Denver ad agency before coming here. She is also editor of our church newsletter, The Chronicle, and has published over 150 issues and helps with church communications. She is active as a Stephen Minister, and serves regularly with Sedalia Elementary School, CSE and other missions/ministries. She is mom to 2 boys, Evan and Alex, who grew up participating in Little School, Children’s, Youth and Music & Arts Ministries at St. Luke’s, and wife to Bob, an IT professional and St. Luke’s volunteer. A life-long Methodist, she was raised in Oklahoma where her mom was the church organist and dad was a lay leader. Her goal for Children's Ministry is to help create and sustain a wonderfully vibrant and welcoming environment for children at St. Luke's to grow closer to God and experience Jesus’ message of love, compassion and service.

Samantha Leahy - Director of Early Childhood Ministry

Samantha has been a member since 2003 and joined our Nursery Staff in 2004. Samantha currently serves as the Director of Early Childhood Ministry. In addition, she serves as a Stephen Leader and is on the Pastoral Care Team. She grew up in Iowa and studied health care administration at Kirkwood College in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Samantha's 16 years of personal and professional experience coupled with her genuine love of children and strong integrity has allowed her to develop her passion for the care and tutelage of children. She is mother to two daughters, Keara and Ryann. Her vision is to introduce the love of Jesus so the children will have a biblical foundation at the earliest of ages.

Stephanie Kirk - Children's Ministry Coordinator

Stephanie has been attending St. Luke's with her family since 1994. She grew up in the Children's Ministry Program, the children's choir (before it was Kidz Prayz!), youth group, youth choir, confirmation, and many many missions trips. She is grateful to be able to serve the community as the Children's Ministry Coordinator, as she knows just how much of an impact Children's Ministry can have on all children, and she actually enjoys organizing paperwork! Stephanie's husband, Paul, is a Stephen Leader at St. Luke's, and their son, Isaiah, is growing up as a staff baby! Stephanie enjoys singing in the chancel choir with her parents on Sunday mornings.

Dave Laurvick - Director of Youth Ministry

Dave Laurvick has been a member of St Lukes UMC since 1996, and a long time volunteer with the St Lukes Youth Group. He recently left a career in Telecommunications Infrastructure to make a long time passion of working with youth of all ages into a vocation as Director of Youth Ministry at St Lukes. He is a veteran of over 14 College/Sr High/Jr High mission trips with SLY (St Lukes Youth), has been a SLY AM teacher, SLY PM volunteer, gone sleepless at numerous retreats and lock ins, and has been a Confirmation Family Group Leader and Prayer Partner. Dave has his degree in Theatre Arts/Management from Southwest Minnesota State University, and did his Graduate studies at Miami University (Ohio). Dave and his lovely wife Elizabeth are parents to Brad (Meghan) Laurvick and Erin (Brad) Klein.

Amy McMullen - Assistant Director of Youth Ministry

Amy first came to St. Luke’s UMC with her parents in 1990 and grew up in the Sunday School and Youth programs. It was only natural that she continue on this path as a staff member at St. Luke’s. Amy studied psychology at Metro State College of Denver and volunteered as an adult leader to the youth before joining the St. Luke’s staff as the Assistant Director of Youth Ministry. Amy also works part time as an aid at Ranch View Middle School. She loves the Colorado Rockies and her three-legged cat, Kiara. Amy has a passion for working with teens and helping them to develop into whole, happy, responsible, and compassionate young adults.

Kelly Amadeo - Director of St. Luke's Little School

Kelly Amadeo has been in the field of education for 15 years. She has a bachelors degree in Early Childhood Development and a masters degree in Elementary Education. In addition to teaching preschool and elementary students, Kelly taught graduate students in the college of education in the fields of Early Childhood Education and Elementary Education for eight years. Kelly started as a parent at Little School when both her son and daughter attended Little School. Kelly then taught at Little School as a Lead Teacher before becoming the director. In addition to providing a quality educational experience, Kelly's vision as the director of Little School is to create an environment where each child and his or her family feel like they are part of a larger family and they are loved unconditionally.
Kelly grew up in the Methodist church in Steamboat Springs and has attended St. Luke's for nine years. In her spare time, she loves to teach young children ballet and spend time with her husband Tony and two children, Brody and Evelyn.

James Ramsey - Director of Music & Arts Ministries

James Ramsey is Director of Music and Arts at St. Luke’s United Methodist Church, Executive Director for the St. Luke’s Performing Arts Academy, Adjunct Faculty at the University of Denver’s Lamont School of Music and Artistic Director for the Wesley Choral Festival. James has worked with various orchestras and ensembles throughout Colorado and conducted choral and orchestral performances across Europe and the United States including professional engagements at Carnegie Hall, Lincoln Center, Red Rocks Amphitheater, and Kennedy Center. As a baritone soloist, he has performed with CU Opera, Pikes Peak Opera, Opera Colorado, and Rochester (NY) Light Opera Theater.

James earned a Doctor of Musical Arts degree at the University of Colorado, Boulder, a Master of Music degree in conducting at the Eastman School of Music, and a Bachelor of Music Education at Middle Tennessee State University. Mentors and teachers include Joan Conlon, Vance George, Donald Neuen, Alfred Mann, and Samuel Adler. As an instructor, Ramsey has taught at the University of Colorado, Whitman College in Washington, and Brighton Central Schools in Rochester, NY. He has served as the American Choral Directors Association’s Repertoire and Standards Chair for Community Choirs for both Colorado and the Southwest Region. James resides in Littleton with his wife, Leigh, and their sons, Jack and Luke.

Kenrick Mervine - Associate Director of Music Ministry and Organist

Kenrick Mervine has earned reviews such as "a delight for both the layman and the connoisseur," and "an organist of stature, one whose personality encompasses superb musicianship and technique in equal measure."

With degrees in Organ Performance with Distinction from Westminster Choir College, Princeton, Ken received an Organ Talent Scholarship, and honors from the American Guild of Organists, West Chester State University, and the Music Teachers National Alliance. He has appeared at the Kennedy Center, Washington DC, served on the faculty of Seton Hall University, performed with numerous symphony orchestras, and was privileged to serve as an organist for Pope John Paul II during World Youth Day. In addition to his responsibilities at St. Luke’s UMC, he appears regularly playing the harpsichord, celesta, keyboard/synthesizer and organ for the Colorado Symphony Orchestra. He also serves as Organist of Temple Emanuel, Denver.

Ken and his wife Barbara, also a musician, have presented hundreds of concerts and workshops throughout the country, and have been featured on American and Canadian Public Radio and "Pipedreams." They serve at St. Thomas More Catholic Church in Centennial, CO. In addition to serving as Music, Organ, and Liturgical Consultants they are Allen Artists. They also focus on teaching and training future musicians for concert and liturgy. Most recently, the Mervines filled in (with three hours notice) for the "First Lady of the Organ:" Diane Bish at the Pikes Peak Center, Colorado Springs, when she was too ill to appear. They have been featured guest artists on the Hour of Power at the Crystal Cathedral, Garden Grove California.

Kay Coryell - Director of Handbells and Children's Music Ministry

Kay joined the staff in February, 2004 as Assistant Music Director. She and
her husband, Ed, have been active members at St. Luke's since 1987.
Together they have four children. Kay received her music degree from the
University of Iowa and began teaching instrumental music in Douglas County
in 1984. Along with a passion for music, she enjoys hiking, camping and
skiing...all things Colorado!

Chris Rigolini - Director of Instrumental Music

Chris Rigolini is a music educator originally from Florida. He graduated from Florida Southern College in 2012 with his Bachelor’s Degree in Music Education. Chris began his teaching career that same year at Jefferson High School in Tampa, FL. His responsibilities included teaching band, orchestra, ESE music, music appreciation, color guard, percussion, and guitar classes during the school day as well as directing the JHS Marching Dragons and JHS Jazz Ensemble after school. While in Tampa, he was in high demand as a clinician and councilor at many local schools and universities. In 2016 Chris began his Master’s Degree in Wind Band Conducting at the Lamont School of Music at the University of Denver. His professional affiliations include the Colorado Bandmasters Association, Colorado Music Educators Association, National Association for Music Education, FBA, FOA, FMEA, and Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia. Chris resides in Denver, CO with his wife Kelly and is an active teacher and clinician in the area.

Sheri Henry - Director of Finance

Sheri joined the staff in January 2014 as the Finance Director. She and her husband, Matt, moved to Colorado in December 2000 and have been members at St. Luke's since 2002. Sheri received her degree in Mathematics/Secondary Education from Southwestern University and later attended the University of Texas – El Paso, where she took business and accounting classes. She has been a CPA since 1994 and has had numerous accounting positions in public companies. Prior to joining the staff at St. Luke’s she was Vice-President and Controller for a mid-sized public company based in Highlands Ranch. In her free time, Sheri is the Treasurer for Mountain Vista Volleyball Booster Club and enjoys traveling and watching her daughter Megan play volleyball.

Kristi Pawley - Accounting Clerk/Music & Arts Administrative Assistant

Kristi joined the staff in October, 2013 as the Accounting Clerk. She and her husband, Bruce, and sons, Josh and Jacob, have been members of St. Luke’s since 1998. She has volunteered in several areas including the Finance team, college mission trip, and as the SLY dinner coordinator. She has also enjoyed various classes such as the Disciple series and Book Club.

Prior to St. Luke’s, Kristi worked part-time at WageWorks, Planned Benefit Systems, and Pediatrics 5280. She began her IT career at Conoco, Inc. and feels blessed to have been a stay-at-home mom for 17 years. She earned her Bachelor of Science in Computer Science from Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA

Renae Parra - Director of Servant Ministry

Renae has been a member of St. Luke's since 2005 and joined our staff in 2016. She has served our faith community as a member of the hospitality teams, the Equipping Ministry team, the Staff Parish Relations team, the Lay Leader team, United Methodist Women, and the Center for Spiritual Engagement. She has led and co-led a variety of educational and spiritual growth classes and women's retreats, facilitated the UMW Evening book club and has represented our congregation at District and Annual Conference events. As a staff member, Renae wants people to know their authentic selves and spiritual gifts so they can serve from a place that feeds their soul and enriches our community. Her vision is to continue to have St. Luke's be a place where all are welcomed when they walk through our doors. Renae is married to Steve and they have two young adult children, Clark and Jackie.
