SUNDAY AT ST. LUKE'SThis Sunday, January 22, we will continue exploring NEW BEGINNINGS in spirituality and spiritual direction. How are you attending to the presence of the Spirit in your life? As a new opportunity in the Spirituality and Wellness Initiative, St. Luke’s is offering group spiritual direction. Together, we’ll think about what that means in my sermon, The Wind at your Back and Other Hot Air Happenings. Read about Nicodemus and his encounter with Jesus in John 3:1-9. The Chancel Choir, Tintinnabulators Hand Bell Choir, Sonrise Band, and the Men’s Chorus will serve as music ministers. Bring your curiosity for a reflective look at the spiritual journey. This Sunday at 11:00am in the Chapel (and continuing on February 5 and 12), Dr. Jim Ryan, Executive Director of the Colorado Council of Churches, will be teaching his book, DOING JUSTICE IN A PURPLE CONGREGATION. As a part of a politically and theologically purple (mixing red and blue creates purple) congregation, the class will explore the biblical and social challenges of leading in ministries of mercy and justice. Jim brings his humor, compassion, and pastoral experience together in framing the essentials for “speaking the truth in love” in theologically, politically, and culturally diverse congregations. All are welcome to participate. New family registration for the ST. LUKE’S LITTLE SCHOOL for the 2012-2013 sessions continues through February 3. Forms are available online or at the Little School office. Note the new class for 2 ½ year olds (Must be 2 by April 1)! Confirmation for youth, 8th grade and older, begins this week 11:00am-1:00pm until Sunday, May 6 when our young people will have the opportunity to celebrate their journey and profess their own faith.
