Proceeds to Benefit Children and Youth Programming
Highlands
Ranch -- Mark your calendars and be
sure to join us for the Third Annual Children’s Dinner Theatre,
Friday, May 4,
2007
, at St. Luke’s
United
Methodist
Church
, 8817 South Broadway in Highlands Ranch. The
evening’s main event is the children’s play, 2006 Shubert Fendrich Playwriting
Contest Winner “Big Bad,” written by Alec Strum and produced
by special arrangement with Pioneer Drama Service, Inc.,
Englewood
,
Colorado
.
The evening kicks off with a
Mexican-style dinner at
5:30 p.m.
At
7:00
p.m.
, the entertainment begins
with the St. Luke’s Cherubs Choir’s performing a medley of songs before the show. In all, 41 children from
kindergarten through sixth grade are participating in the production.
The play, “Big Bad,” takes
place in an enchanted forest courtroom where the Big Bad Wolf is being slapped
with a class-action lawsuit by the countless quirky characters he has wronged. The
two greatest legal minds in the Enchanted Forest—the Evil Stepmother and the
Fairy Godmother—clash in a trial that is sure to be remembered forever-after.
The story educates children about the American justice system while reinforcing
values such as fairness, compassion and justice. The audience decides the
verdict.
The performance is free and
no reservations are required. Good-will donations will be accepted; proceeds
will benefit the St. Luke’s 2007 Bold Venture Campaign. The Bold Venture
campaign aims to raise funds for much-needed capital improvements for St.
Luke’s youth programs, such as expanded youth gathering space and
other room improvements.
