CAMBODIA MEETING MINUTES
October 22, 2000

Laurie distributed a general World Traveler's Packing List that suggests
items we may want to pack.  She also told us about some missionaries who are
planning to spend time in Cambodia.  Look up their website for information
on their travels at www.mikeariel.homestead.com.

Rich Boon has been researching generators and found that Honda produces one
that could recharge power tools that is 1.8 hp, is only 29 lbs and is about
17X9X15.  He was also able to procure a couple dozen play balls and soccer
balls that we could take for the children.

Jim reported that the people in Cambodia were planning on preparing our
meals at the hut onsite.  They will take care of everything and make sure it
is healthy.  He suggested we just take cash so they can purchase any food
that we will need.  Nita has been talking to Carl Cleveland who held the
money pool for the Zimbabwe trip.  They will come up with a figure of how
much we need to plan on bringing.  The bigger cities do take credit cards,
but we need to be wary when they are handling them, so we are not
overcharged.  Bigger cities also have ATMs.

Brian Sorsby has offered to set up training for us to learn brick laying
skills.  We can perhaps build a brick barbecue pit for the church some
Saturday.  More details will follow.

Don't forget the Benefit Concert on November 4th.  There will be a 15 minute
intermission so concessions will be quick.  We can also have concessions
afterward.  The whole thing will last about 1 1/2 hours.  We will have the
spaghetti dinner on November 17th and 18th prior to Godspell, which starts
at 7:30 pm.  Dinner will be at 6:00 on both nights.

Steve reported on t-shirts and got a good deal from Jim's sister.  He will
order those Monday, in hopes of being able to start selling them at the
Benefit Concert on the 4th.  Steve went to Ad Council and got approvals for
our fundraisers, the shirts, the concessions and spaghetti dinner, and the
Bricks of Hope project that Laurie put together.

The Bricks of Hope program allows individuals to donate funds for the
Cambodia Mission Project.  They will receive token gifts for the level in
which they contribute.  We will present that at tables on Sunday beginning
on 10/29.

There was more discussion about water filters.  Sounds like we will use
multiple methods of filtering and disinfecting the water.  We will be
looking for information on luggage weight limits (probably about 45 lbs per
person) and how much extra weight will cost.  Nita will obtain a final copy
of the itinerary changes and distribute those.

Ken will set up a way for us to send messages to St. Lukes website that our
families can access and see how we are doing.

NEXT MEETING ON SUNDAY, 10/29.  SEE YOU THERE!
