CAMBODIA MEETING MINUTES

November 10, 2002

Thanks to Brian and Lynne Sorsby for providing us with a great lunch!  Steve
Riley distributed the forms that included the liability release for St.
Luke's.  He reviewed the contents of the form with everyone.  Bonnie Funk
was present to notarize the required documents.

Laurie Gilbert read a public announcement for Southeast Asia which included
a world-wide caution for American travelers.  We will continue to monitor
this website and keep in touch with Joseph to make sure we will be
relatively safe from worldwide unrest.  If he feels it is too dangerous for
us to go, he will tell us.  If the risk becomes a strong warning against
American travel, we will hold an emergency meeting and Laurie and Brian
Sorsby, as co-leaders of Mission Possible II, will make the decision for the
group whether we will go or not.  At any time, any individual is free to
make that decision for themselves.

Laurie then led us in a prayer.  She then updated us on the funds.  $1,000
was successfully wired to Cambodia at a cost of $50.  $14,000 will also be
sent this week.  We have $5,029 left.  Joseph and dinner proceeds are still
to come.  Brick money will be sent later after those sales are completed.
Many thanks to the Dunns for the flower bulb sales.  We earned $1,293 at the
craft bazaar.  We received a gift of $200 donated from a friend of Joyce
Carnes.  Please email Betsy if you wish to help with sewing school bags and
pencil cases for about 60 to 80 school children.

Joseph has requested a lawnmower.  Steve Colman volunteered to search for
that item, perhaps getting it donated.  One team has a direct flight and
will not have the weight restrictions that the other team had, so they can
carry the extra items.  They can have 140 lbs checked in 2 bags and carry
one up to 30 lbs. And 45", plus a purse or fanny pack.  The 2nd group has
the 44lbs checked bag limit.

Ken Decker talked about the travel insurance, which is not required, but you
might wish to have it.  You should send it directly to Travel Guard if you
have a brochure.  There is an itinerary change for the first group, they
will leave on 12/27, not 12/26.

Bob Datson asked about the spending money we need to take.  We will have to
pay for some of our meals, laundry, guards and transportation.  ATMs are
available in most places.  $500.00 might be a good amount if you plan on
doing some shopping.  Dalai suggested bring small amounts $1s, $5s, $10s, no
large bills like $50s or $100s.

Laurie will send out a packing list as a reminder.  We should bring some
good working gloves.  We will also have signups for daily devotions for when
we get there.  This can be anything you want, bring any materials you will
need for this.  You can even do it in groups if you wish.  There will be a
shared journal everyday where we can take turns recording the days' events.
Ken Fong will do email updates each day.  Laurie also distributed lists on
how to be a good missioner, traveler, and representative of St. Lukes to
remind us to be considerate of different cultures, respectful to all people,
and flexible!

We will plan one last meeting before we leave.  On Sunday, 12/8 at 12:15 pm,
we will have a relaxed get together in the Fellowship Hall where we will all
bring something to share for a potluck.  We will also bring our donations
sharing (toothbrushes, combs, pencils and pens, small school supplies) so
those who can pack more can take more items.  Also bring your photos from
the last Cambodia Mission Trip.  Last minutes issues can be discussed.
