CAMBODIA MEETING MINUTES
NOVEMBER 5, 2000

THERE WILL BE NO MEETING ON NOV. 12TH, BECAUSE OF AD COUNCIL'S RETREAT AT
12:15.  BE SURE TO HELP US OUT WITH THE SPAGHETTI DINNER AND THE CONCESSIONS
AT "GODSPELL" FOR FRIDAY, NOV. 17TH AND SATURDAY, NOV. 18TH.

St. Luke's Big Band Concert on November 4th, grossed $629.33.  Attendance
was a little disappointing, so it was surprising that we made so much.
About $468 was made in concert donations and about $171 made on concessions,
including the bake sale.  Many thanks to Jim Ramsey and the Big Band for
their efforts and to those of you who donated baked goods and helped with
concessions.

Brian Sorsby reported on preparations for the Spaghetti Dinners prior to
"Godspell."  He needs letters from St. Lukes for the store managers he has
talked into donating food to prepare the meal.  Brian is making real
homemade, cooked-all day sauce.  He and Dale will be at the church on Friday
morning to begin preparations.  The rest of us can come early in the
afternoon, whenever we can to assist with setup.  We need everyone to be
there around 5:00 to 5:30 on both Friday and Saturday to work as servers for
everyone.  Joyce is talking to Dan about getting the Lemon Ice.  We will
also sell baked goods with our concessions (so we won't have dessert at the
meal) so please bring your donations.  Don't forget we are doing this on
Friday and Saturday, and we need all the help we can get!

Nita and Jim have worked out the money situation and will report on that at
the next meeting.  There is no meeting on November 12th, so we can be free
to participate in the Ad Council Retreat at 12:15 at the church.

Marla presented touring options for Bangkok and Singapore.  The group
preferred the 6 hour tour for $27.48 each which includes transportation from
the hotel, lunch, an English speaking guide, and entrance fees to the Wat
Arun (temple) the Royal Grand Palace and the Emerald Buddha, The Wat Pho
(reclining Buddha), Wat Benchamabopit (marble temple), the Wat Trimitr
(golden Buddha), and the Vimanmek Mansion.

For Singapore, the cost of the "City in Transformation Tour" is $9.76 each
and lasts about 3 1/2 hours.  This includes  transportation from the hotel,
a stop at the Marina Promenade, Singapore River-Boat Quay, Chinese Kwan Imm
Temple and a Hindu Temple-Sri Krishnan Temple, a Jewish Synagogue, a
catholic Church, Arab Street, and learn about Islam at the Sultan Mosque.
Marla will also be looking into the night safari at the zoo where nocturnal
animals can be seen.  We will probably get the use of a driver for the next
day for smaller groups who want to do more sightseeing or shopping.

Steve reported that 100 nice quality T's and 100 golf shirts have been
ordered and should be delivered by 11/15 in time for "Godspell."  He is also
putting together a receipt with the shirts' costs and the extra which would
be donations.

Rich is still working out the details on the generator but assures us that
we will have one.  Esther reported that Steve and Ken are working on how to
get live images from Cambodia.  We may have to rent one room which would be
our base for a ground line, where we can also take turns showering, or where
someone could sleep if they got sick.

There was further discussion on building materials and tools needed.  Brian
is planning the brick laying project for our training.  Laurie said that the
"Bricks for Hope" is going well and asked the group if we would like to give
a video that we create from Cambodia for those who donate $100 or more.  We
agreed that it is a good idea.

Steve asked about visas.  We will get them when we get there.  We need to
bring 3 photos with us.  We should also make 2 copies of our passport,
driver's license, and immunization records and leave one copy at home, and
one copy separately from our originals.  The next meeting will be November
19th.
