CAMBODIA
MEETING MINUTES
December
3, 2000
Nita
Dunn read from Dalai's recent email about arrangements for us in Cambodia.
She said we do not need to bring tools and don't need to send the money ahead
since we can bring it with us. There was further discussion about the
generator. Dalai said there is safe bottled water available. They
are also hiring workers to work with us.
They
have done a lot of planning about the food and sent a sample menu for us.
Breakfast will generally be porridge, bread, and noodles. Lunch will ge
soup, a fried or roast dish, and regular or sticky rice. A typical
dinner will be vegetables, chicken or pork, and bananas. They are also
preparing some sort of beds for sleeping so we are not on the ground. It
sounds like they are going out of their to make us as comfortable as possible,
which we should not expect and for which we should be grateful!
Final
figures from Godspell are not in yet, but it appears we are halfway to our
$15,000 goal. We still have lots of shirts and bricks to sell.
With God's blessing we will reach our goal! Joyce took individual
pictures of us for the name badges designating us as missionaries. We
then reviewed the itinerary and discussed the timing of the tours.
**
Everyone should email Marla their names as they are on their passport.
We
discussed the hotel room we were planning to use to set up communications with
reliable internet access. It was expensive, about $300 per day, so we
will see if that is negotiable. There was some discussion as to whether
that was really needed at all. We had just wanted to set up a live feed
from Cambodia to St. Lukes to use in a service, but the cost may be
prohibitive. Steve Plain will check into a satellite phone line.
He also suggested that Gateway may supply us a laptop.
Sharon
Stonecipher will be our photojournalist and keep records of names, places,
etc. Dale will ask Mike Nasca if the visa pictures need to be identical.
We
will not be meeting on 12/10. Our the next meeting will be on 12/17.
We do not meet again until January 7, 2001 where we will:
1) Bring all the donations to sort out and distribute so we
can each pack a little.
2) A customs agent will register our electronic
equipment, so bring any cameras, camcorders, laptops, etc. you plan to take.
3) Andrea Mezger is planning a get-together for the
committee and spouses, so we can meet socially before the trip.
