Cambodia Missions Committee Meeting
April 28, 2002

Jim Ramsey led the group in a song "Hallelujah! We Gather to Sing God's
Praise" in English and in Khmer.  Laurie then led us in the opening prayer.

Ken Decker distributed maps of the country and asked for any down payments
not already turned in.  We were able to purchase one free ticket to give to
Dalai.  Laurie said Dalai is checking with the Cambodian embassy to make
sure she will be able to return to the United States without a long process
and the lottery system.  Ken distributed a draft itinerary of the flights.
The entire trip would be between December 26th and January 18th, and the
total air costs would be $1,050.

There is still extra room for a few more individuals who want to go but we
are reaching the deadline.  We have 14 on one team and 21 on the other.  Six
are planning on staying throughout the whole time the teams are there.  We
can't guarantee the price if we add on more individuals.  The passport names
list was passed around for verification.

We will be planning the side trips after the Silent Auction on June 8th.  In
Bangkok we will stay at the Christian Guest House like last time.

We discussed the overlap of the teams.  We plan the excursions for the
overlap time so we won't all be in Siem Reap at the same time.  A trip to
Viet Nam is being considered, and visas are required for that trip.

Treasury Report:  We have $4,975.63.  Joseph Chan's wife is in California
next month and will bring us more bells to sell.  We have been having
trouble with mailing packages and documents to Cambodia.  It is expensive
and some of the items are not arriving.

John Williams and Sharon are coordinating the carwash.  They are working
with Aaron Shipman to get the youth to help.  It will be on the south side
of St. Lukes from 7:30 am to 12:00 noon.  There will be a $5 suggested
donation.  The committee will bring supplies for the carwash.

Dale Balu is coordinating the person from customs who provided us with good
information for the last trip.  He will come to talk to this group as well.

June 8th is the Silent Auction/Taste of Cambodia.  Donations are slim this
year.  Don't forget to call the companies and organizations if you have a
list.  Some ideas are store and restaurant certificates, toys, rugs,
paintings, timeshares, special dinners, gift baskets (items must be new),
golf stuff, sports tickets, and signed memorabilia.  Examples of services we
could do are:  Babysitting, pie baking (like a pie-a-month).  We are trying
to get items from Cambodia.

Cindy Raap said that the Sunday school classes are putting together theme
baskets.  We need everything by the latter part of May (the 29th) with the
retail value on it.  Betsy said we need about 250 items.  The tables will be
closed one by one, so there is not a rush at the end.  We will hold back
large items for a live auction.  Some items that got overlooked can also be
done at the live auction.

We need volunteers to work at the auction, setup, cashiers, and publicity.
It will be June 8 from 5:30 to 8:30.  Set up will 9:00 or 10:00.  St. Mark's
will be here from 3:00 to 5:00, so there needs to be quiet time.  The
cooking volunteers will be cooking all day.  Dalai is checking with the
Cambodia Performing Arts to provide only music for about 1 hour.  We will
also set up videos.  Betsy will ask Ken Fong or Steve Riley about a credit
card setup.  We will be doing posters and flyers and try to get paper and
radio community announcements.

There will be a Ministry Moment on Missions Sunday on May 19th.  Steve Riley
is checking with Church Mutual for a comprehensive travel policy for mission
trips.  It should be $550.00 for the whole group and cover lost baggage,
legal assistance, evacuation, and kidnap and ransom.  He will check on a
"war" clause.

The next meeting is May 19 on Missions Sunday.  Mark Moore will bring lunch.
Dan Raap will bring lunch on June 2 for a short meeting.
