Cambodia Missions Committee Meeting
May 19, 2002

Laurie let the opening prayer.  June 8 is the Silent Auction.  Betsy brought
flyers for us to distribute.  We have about 130 to 140 donations so far, but
we need more.  Steve is getting the credit card processor.  From 5:30 to
7:30 is the dinner and auction.  The music will be from 6:00 to 7:00, and
the live auction from 7:30 to 8:00.

Dalai has been coordinating the food with the Cambodian church ladies.  They
will decide on a menu and will send us a list of the women who will be
helping us cook.  We need to think of a gift for them.  Dalai will need help
with the shopping.  The musicians don't know what to charge us for the
music, so we will have a donations basket available and then make up the
difference for about 4 to 5 people.

The missions will donate a basket for the auction.  We passed around a list
for people to sign up to bring baby supplies for a basket called "It's a
Girl!"  The carwash was cancelled due to rain and we will reschedule for
June 2nd.  We will ask Dick to announce it next week on 5/26.  We need to
bring the carwash supplies and lots of towels for drying.

Steve Riley presented a fundraiser we could do this time for our Bricks of
Hope.  We will sell brick pavers and use them for the landscaping project in
the back of the church.  They will be engraved with the family names of the
donors.  It will raise money for the landscaping and a portion will also go
to the Cambodian fund.  The bricks are 4x8 or 8x8 and come with 2 lines of
text.  Additional lines can be purchased for $10.  We can charge $100 for
the 4x8 which costs about $35.  Extra logos or emblems can be ordered for an
additional cost.  We will sell for about 60 days beginning in August or
September.  Brian, Ken, and Steve will coordinate this program.

Marie suggested selling the bulbs again in which we get 50% of the proceeds.
We will start that in the fall.  The committee members will also bring baked
goods to sell at the auction.  We will ask UMW if they'd like to bake some
items for us as well.

Jim Ramsey had asked if we would like to do a dinner at the Joseph musical
November 15th and 16th.  We may do chili and cornbread with macaroni and
cheese for the kids.   We will sell desserts also.

Steve discussed organizing the Viet Nam side trip from Siem Reap to Bangkok,
Da Nang and Saigon.  The 5 day trip seems like a better trip.  With standard
hotels it will cost $835.  They believe it will be cheaper if it is planned
once the groups gets to Cambodia and it will be an Adventure!  It will be at
the end of the 2nd group's trip.  People coming in the first group can plan
their own trip with the travel agent in Siem Reap.  It takes a full day of
travel on the first day and also on the last day.  Steve has about 12 people
on the list who are interested.
