CAMBODIA MEETING
MINUTES
June 2, 2002
Marie Fornoff led
us in a prayer. She then brought us up to date on the Auction. We
still need lots of help for the Auction, so we hope you can all be there to
pitch in and don't forget cleanup! At least plan to arrive by 4:30 to
5:00 and stay for cleanup. Marie reviewed the bidding process and
tallying the sheets and cashiering, for which she needs more helpers.
She and Dave put together a really nice Auction brochure with all the donors
and items listed.
Joyce Carnes got
the lemon ice machine donated by Dan Washburn for the evening. We will
also have our Bells there for sale. Linda Harris will help out at this
table.
Laurie asked
about the large vinyl Auction banner we had last year, so that may be
resurrected. We need to make sure we have signs for the other areas as
well. She mentioned that she watched a video of Dalai's brother's
wedding and thought it would be a good to have that playing with our other
video for people to view. Ken Fong so graciously volunteered to
coordinate that video setup as well as taping the event! Thanks, Ken!
Dan Raap and Fred
Venable will be the live Auction callers.
Laurie updated us
on plans for the food preparation. They may need help making the egg
rolls on Friday. Brian Sorsby will also pick up the women from the
Cambodian church in Aurora, because they don't have a ride on Saturday.
Laurie will also pick up the gift certificates as a gift for all of their
help. We will not sell desserts since dessert will be served with the
meal.
Layout: We
will put the live auctioneers somewhere by the Missions Table near the kitchen
and the musicians by the deck door.
Reminder:
Wear your Mission Possible T-shirts if you have one.
No update on the
landscaping bricks at this time, which replaces our Bricks of Hope project
from last year.
Marie got Dutch
bulbs set up for us as a fundraiser. We will get 50% of the proceeds.
We still need someone to coordinate this project, getting people to be at the
tables and get the sales, fax in the orders on time, deliver them at church or
drop off the ones not picked up. Any volunteers?
We also need
someone to organize the dinner for the Joseph program in early November.
It will be similar to what we did for Godspell, except no spaghetti! We
may do something like chile and sloppy joes.
Marie reminded us
about the shots we may need to update or for those who need all of them.
Check with your doctor regarding immunizations needed to travel to Cambodia.
The time to start is this month!
We will begin to
advertise the craft fair so people can have time to create their items.
It will be held November 2nd.
We will also need
some people to meet after church on the 9th to help us fill out the thank you
cards for everyone who helped plus the business donors. Marie will bring
drinks but no lunch will be provided as this should be a pretty short meeting.
Bob Datson
offered to bring the lunch for the next Committee Meeting on June 23rd.
Blessings to all
of you and the hard work that you do!
