CAMBODIA MEETING MINUTES
July 23, 2000

Dalai Dei started off the meeting with a lesson in Khmer.  She led the group
in Khmer greetings, "hello, goodbye, yes/no, thank you" and "I'm sorry", and
a few important ones, "I'm hungry" and "Where is the toilet?"  A copy of the
list is available for anyone who missed the meeting.

Sharon Stonecipher passed around a sign up sheet for the shots clinic for
anyone who missed it.  Esther passed around a booklet Dalai had made with
picture postcards from Cambodia.

Jan Stull gave an update on the auction donations so far totalling $13,000
retail value.  She encouraged us to continue going into business and telling
them about our mission and asking donations.  (She claims it is good to take
along your children since they are more difficult to turn down!)  At the
Taste of Zimbabwe we had $6,000 worth of goods and only received 1/3 of that
in bids, so we really to get a lot more to reach our $15,000 goal.

Onsite logistical planning is being done by Jim Ramsey and Dalai.  Nita
passed out the visa forms we might be able to complete ahead of time.  We
also received an update form the Center of Infectious Diseases.

Dalai's schedule currently is: 7/23 to 7/27 at the Gilberts.  She will be
camping with the Balus from 7/27 to 7/30.  She is staying at the Stulls from
7/30 to 8/6 and with the Stoneciphers from 8/12 to 8/16.  She does have
extra time if anyone wants to call her and invite her to participate in an
outing or event with your family.

The update on travel with Thai Air is that they can't find enough seats for
all to go together so we may have to be flexible and take different flights.
Dale Balu was really concerned about the group not staying together so we
will do what we can.  Apparently Bangkok Air cannot guarantee refunds so
that portion of the flight may not be refundable.

Laurie Gilbert updated us on plans for food preparation.  She will be
working with Dalai and calling for a group to get together this week to plan
shopping, etc.  The timing for the event is August 12 from 4:00 to 8:00.  We
may be gathering by 10:00 to 12:00 to get started on preparation and
decorating.

Does anyone know if we set up a next meeting?  I assume we will definitely
meet on the 6th to make final arrangements for the dinner and silent
auction.  Do we have volunteers for lunch and drinks?
