Sand Creek Spiritual Healing Run

A Sacred Journey of Remembrance, Truth-Telling & Healing

The Spiritual Healing Run is a sacred, descendant-led journey that honors those killed in the Sand Creek Massacre. The Healing Run carries memory across the land and seeks healing through truth, presence and relationship. The 2026 journey takes place November 25-29.

To continue our hope toward ongoing healing and remembrance, St. Luke's is partnering with the UMC Mt. Sky Conference to help sponsor the Saturday evening meal for Cheyenne and Arapahoe descendants, elders and supporters. Our goal is $1,200 to provide resources for the meal that will be held at Iliff School of Theology. St. Luke's Brave Spaces Team has donated $400 to begin moving toward our goal.

The Healing Run begins at the Sand Creek Massacre Site, continues through Limon and concludes in Denver on November 29, the anniversary of the massacre. Established in 1999 by descendants of Sand Creek survivors, the Spiritual Healing Run retraces the direction soldiers traveled toward Denver after the massacre. Movement along this route is an act of remembrance, witness and hope under descendant leadership.

If the opportunity to offer support for the Spiritual Healing journey speaks to your heart, please join us through prayer and/or a financial gift that will help provide a meal during the Spiritual Healing Run.
