Homosexuality & the Christian Faith

Nearly every Christian who acknowledges an aversion to homosexuality does so on the basis of what he or she believes the Bible says. So, what does the Bible actually say about this topic? When the Bible speaks of homosexuality, does it mean the same thing we mean when we speak of homosexuality? In this series we will examine six passages from the Old and New Testaments people traditionally quote as the Bible’s teaching on homosexuality - Genesis 19, Leviticus 18 & 20, Romans 1,1 Corinthians 6 & 1 Timothy 1. An important question to ask is, “Have these texts been misread and misused?” What is an appropriate interpretation and use of these texts? How does the Christian faith inform our thinking on this issue? And what does it look like for us to be a faith community together, even if we don’t arrive at the exact same conclusions?
