Soundtrack: Songs that help us find God in everyday life

Worship Series: June 3 - September 2, 2018

Music is a universal language that speaks with power. Singer-songwriter and pianist, Billy Joel describes it as an “explosive expression of humanity.” Music moves and inspires us. It brings comfort to the lonely. Singer, poet, and activist, Maya Angelou said, “Music was my refuge. I could crawl into the space between the notes and curl my back to loneliness.” Rock legend, Bono, believes that “music can change the world because it can change people.” And the actor, Robin Williams, reminded us that music connects us to something bigger: “You know what music is? God’s little reminder that there is something else besides us in this universe, a harmonic connection between all living things, everywhere, even the stars.”

Many of us have a particular soundtrack when it comes to our lives—songs that we play during times of joy and sorrow and celebration and grief and uncertainty and transition and everything in between...because there is a song for every feeling, every emotion, and every experience.

What is your soundtrack of life? Which songs have carried you along the way? In this summer worship series we will put modern songs in conversation with the ancient Scriptures as we explore how these songs help us find God in everyday life.
